you never forget your first love…

Its almost 11 years since I went to my first concert. Some things you never forget. I’ll never forget not wanting to be there. I’ll never forget being horribly embarrassed by my mother and aunt’s dancing. But what I will truely never forget is that feeling of, OMG… they are amazing. I didn’t want them to leave the stage. Knowing I’d probably never see them again. I know a lot of people who’ll laugh when I name the band… but I don’t really care. They ignited something in me that has slowly but surely shaped my entire life. That band is………. The BeeGees.
Not everyone’s idea of a life-changing band, I know. But for me they are so much more than falsettos and big 70s hair. Their music is the soundtrack to so many people’s lives. I’m no good with words, so I won’t even attempt to write down what they mean to me. Here’s a video from the One Night Only DVD… one of my absolute favourite songs of theirs…

SO… here they are 11 years later. There’s only Robin and Barry now, and although Maurice’s side of the stage has that stark emptiness like Richey’s side on the Manics stage, it is great to see Robin and Barry performing together again. Something I never thought would happen.
