Cocktails, Beetles & a day at Rolls-Royce

Finally! A happy shaped blog! It’s been a while, but these last few weeks seem to have been kinda busy. Not sure why though, as I haven’t really done anything other than work.

Update about Mom: She had her first chemotherapy last Thursday and it went very well! The anti-sickness drugs really work! Mind you, as soon as she finished those she was pretty damn sick, but that only lasted a few days. It’s not even a week since she went in for it and already she’s back at work and back to her normal happy self. I know that not all treatments will go as smoothly as this one, but it’s a good start anyway and at least now we’re not totally dreading the next one. 1 down, 7 to go!

One HUGE change last month was that I actually got a BEETLE!!! I know, I know, I was going to save, wait until the end of the year and then “start” looking for something. Well, I am just too damn impatient! I started looking already in June and discovered that diesel Beetles (with the new back lights) are pretty hard to come by. I saw one advertised at the Car Shop in Northampton, which is where I got my Corsa so we went there to just take it for a test drive to see if I actually liked driving it. Needless to say that said Beetle is now resident on my driveway! Dad and I were both amazed at the condition of the car – no scratches, inside is as new (I swear no one has ever sat in the back seats before!) and it drives so well! Of course I was absolutely gutted to say goodbye to my baby-corsa… but all good things must come to an end. I wanted a car with electric windows and air conditioning… lol. Now the fun begins… I have a few things that I want to do (I’ve already had an iPod doc fitted hahah!)

  • Flower/butterfly/star decals. Haven’t decided which yet :P
  • New number plates (hate the carshop-advertising ones!)
  • FLOWER for the dashboard vase!
  • Join the Beetle owners club :P
  • So yeah… all that excitement! Also been out with Squelle and Audra a couple of times. I forgot how great it was to go out with my friends hahah! Also seem to be going to the cinema a lot these days! I really need to get one of the cineworld-cards! In the last month I’ve seen Public Enemie, The Hangover and The Proposal. All of them were bloody fantastic!! Might have to go back and see The Proposal again tho… Ryan Reynolds is HOT!

Anyway, back on track! Laaaaaast week we went to the Rolls-Royce factory in West Sussex! I really didn’t know what to expect from the visit, I’ve never been to a car factory! But oh my goodness, it was nothing like what we’d all imagined it to be! It was clean, everyone was friendly and we actually saw just how hand-made these cars are! After lunch and our tour, we had a little drive around the Goodwood estate in one of the new Phantom Extended Wheelbase’s (you could throw a party in the back seat of that car, it was mahoooosive!)

Here is Sandra, Martika, me & Julian outside :D

    Visit to RRMC

And now continuing with the little list thingamy…

Song of the moment: Silly Really came blasting through my car-stereo unexpectedly yesterday morning. I forgot how fantastic the “groove” is! The bass is awesome too!
Currently Loving: Coke. Normal, fat coke.
Currently Loathing: being a bit poor… saving for a cambelt and service at the mo!!! but i will NOT raid my savings!!!
Currently Wishing: that Green Day’s new album wasn’t so shit. ah well, cest la vie!
Looking forward to: the Rally this weekend! Might go to the RHS garden in Harrogate and take pictures of pretty flowers if the weather is OK.

PS – pics of Helga (ze Beetle!) will come as soon as we have a relatively sunny day and I have the time to go somewhere pretty! Who knows, maybe this weekend!

    june: the forgotten month

I guess the title of the forgotten month kinda sums June up. It is a month I certainly want to forget for quite a few reasons.
Don’t get me wrong, a few things in June really rocked (Manics in Brighton, Nicole’s Wedding and the Rally), but the rest…. well. Let’s just say we had a major reality check last month and it’s really shaken me.
What made it so bad? The waiting. The continual waiting. In fact we are still waiting. We found out last month that my Mom has cancer. Luckily they can do a lot for it and hopefully within a year she should be well on her way to a full recovery, but that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with… so I’ll try write down some of my thoughts here. Right now we’re waiting for a few more scans to be done and then the treatment can begin – hopefully before the end of the month. I know that certain things have to be done and these of course take time but the waiting is so frustrating. If this is how I feel, can’t imagine how Mom feels about it. I wish they could just start the treatment already and then in no time this nightmare will be over. It still feels so surreal… reading through the booklets of how it is going to be treated, side effects etc… is very scary. You always read/hear about these things happening to other people, but you never imagine that it would happen to someone so close to you.
I know this probably just sounds like a lot of rambling at the moment, but I really need somewhere to vent it right now.
I’ll keep updating this, but I generally like to keep my blog as a happy place these days so only good news on here from now on I promise (and hopefully there will be a lot of that!)

In other news (lol) I have finally finished editing the wedding photos! And I have also uploaded the rest of my Party Crasher Tour videos onto YouTube.

And now for something new and exciting (!!!) for le blog…

Song of the moment: Solsken by Gyllene Tider. Pure summer music.
Currently Loving: John Cusack. In any way, shape or form hahah! But preferably in High Fidelity.
Currently Loathing: Stupid childish people who ought to know better by now.
Currently Wishing: That I could get a Beetle.
Looking forward to: Going to Harrogate & Harewood House for the next Rally in August

(hopefully I’ll put these on all the future posts, but who knows… I’m crap at this sort of thing!)

Last but not least, here is one of my videos from the London Show:

    people help the people

God knows what is hiding in that weak and drunken heart
I guess you kissed the girls and made them cry
    those Hardfaced Queens of misadventure
God knows what is hiding in those weak and sunken eyes
a Fiery throng of muted angels
Giving love and getting nothing back

    People help the people
And if your homesick, give me your hand and i’ll hold it
    People help the people
And nothing will drag you down
Oh and if I had a brain, Oh and if I had a brain
i’d be cold as a stone and rich as the fool
That turned, all those good hearts away

God knows what is hiding, in that world of little consequence
Behind the tears, inside the lies
    A thousand slowly dying sunsets
God knows what is hiding in those weak and drunken hearts
I guess the loneliness came knocking
No on needs to be alone, oh save me

    People help the people
And if your homesick, give me your hand and i’ll hold it
    People help the people
    Nothing will drag you down
Oh and if I had a brain, Oh and if I had a brain
I’d be cold as a stone and rich as the fool
That turned, all those good hearts away

    People help the people
And if your homesick, give me your hand and I’ll hold it
    People help the people
    Nothing will drag you down
Oh and if I had a brain, Oh and if I had a brain
I’d be cold as a stone and rich as the fool
That turned, all those good hearts away

Party Crasher Tour - London Calling!

Home-gigs are always gonna be pretty special aren’t they? When I say “home” I simply mean that we didn’t have to get one a plane to see this one! It was of course in London.
The day started veeeery early and ended equally as late, but what can I say? the company was great, the band were really on form (Per rates it as one of his top 3 on the tour!) and it was just fantastic to see so many people that I haven’t seen in years! It was really something… a moment in time that I never dreamed would happen. So dreams can come true then ;)

To those who were there - you know how great it was!
To those who weren’t - you seriously missed out bigtime!

Its been almost a month since the show, but *finally* the pix have made it onto Flickr!

    Party Crasher Tour - Copenhagen

So, Per Gessle’s Party Crasher Tour has begun. Last weekend I spent four unforgettable days in Copenhagen with Stina and Sarah. We spent our time shopping, drinking coffee, getting drunk at mexibar and reading books in a lovely forest with the deer. Oh and we saw Per Gessle on Monday night at Pumpehuset! In Per’s words…

“Copenhagen was fu##ing fantastic!!! The crowd was sent from heaven and the band was kicking ass like never before. A delight to be on stage! Everything was a gas, maybe - just maybe - Dangerous was bit slow…On the other hand Opp nox was a bit too fast…….. Yeah!!! Best….. so far….!!!”

The crowd was great, the band were fantastic. Martinique had the support slot and he was just great too! Definately looking forward to seeing him again in London!

Since I’m no good with words (but pretty good with a camera), here are some pix for your viewing pleasure :)

    Three cheers for red wine!

    one week to go!!!

In 4 days I’ll be checking in at BHX for my flight to Copenhagen!
And in 7 days time we’ll be bouncing around with excitement getting ready to see PeeGee!

It’s been months since Sarah, Stina and I all sat at our computers one cold evening in January and carefully planned our little tour. Booking flights at similar times, discovering cool Youth Hostels in the greatest part of Stockholm and not believing our luck when we managed to get tickets to all the shows we wanted to see. So, all the planning comes together on FRIDAY!!! yes, 4 days from now! and the hype for this tour is increadible :P its great to see Gessle and co. embracing modern technology hahah! Photo and Video updates appear almost every day, and OMG the rehearsals sound so awesome. I know that for fans who have seen Roxette before this is a bit of a let-down (Roxette songs without Marie = no no no!) but for me (having never seen Roxette) this is something I never thought would have happened! Even Martinique (Helena’s husband and the tour’s support act) is blogging every day! You should check him out at http://martiniquemusic.wordpress.com :D very cool indeed!

OK… so that was me being completely and utterly excited about this tour. Plans for this week… hmnnn, working (only 3 days, hoorah!), packing, and uhm…. thats about it really! I’ll probably update this again when I get back from Copenhagen… don’t think I’ll have much to say between now and then ;)

Also just got sent this link from Crashi! cool video that he’s made about the tour :D

    Next on the Agenda:
The Manics. :D (I am actually uber excited about this too right now, but I will attempt to contain said excitement until I get over the whole “OMG I’m seeing Gessle in a WEEK” thing. hah!)

Now to figure out how to make Twitter updates appear on here (yes, I caved and joined. I blame Mr Gessle though…)

    *edit*

last but certainly not least - DELAYS are set to start recording their new album in May.

    Dom Andra

yah yah i will post something “real” soon… for now, some lyrics :)

    …….

En ensam kvinna söker en man
    Svar till: Hjärtat talar sant
En pessimist i sitt livs form
Jag vädrar blod, det luktar sorg

    En utomjordings kärlekstörst
En undran vem som svek vem först
Ät fett och socker tills du spyr
    Eller blir en fyra-tonsmartyr
    Sälj dig, sälj dig dyrt

    Kom låna törnekronan min
    Lid för konsten eller brinn
Jag slåss och håller kroppen varm
En dröm om mammas ömma famn

    En utomjordings kärlekstörst
En undran vem som svek vem först
Och jag blir gärna en martyr
    Vi behöver nog en ny
    Sälj dig, sälj dig dyrt

    Ett långfinger åt döden
    Vi gick över lik
    Och skylta’ med vår kärlek,
    vårt rika inre liv
    Men plåtarna till himmlen
var slut när vi kom dit
    Och priset vi betalat
    För att klassas som elit
Var att vi blev som dom andra
    Vi blev som dom andra
    Vi blev som dom andra

    Och vi kommer inte längre
    Vi är tillbaks på noll
    Men ingen kommer sörja
Vi har spelat ut vår roll
    Vi glömmer hela skiten
    Det betyder ingenting
    Vi skulle kommit längre
    Men räckte inte till
    Vi blev som dom andra
    Vi blev som dom andra
    Vi blev som dom andra
